Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is a time when innovators and entrepreneurs are celebrated across the world through various activities that stimulate ideas, create networks and inspire entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens to contribute positively to advance and grow their businesses. GEW is celebrated in over 160 countries around the world and the initiative is supported by dozens of world leaders and a network of more than 15,000 partner organizations.
The Innovation Hub, an the innovation agency in South Africa, hosted a series of events from the 16 November to 18 November 2016, to celebrate innovators and showcase start-up companies. More details here
In Rwanda, there was a five day program that dealt with encouraging youthful ideas into concrete business plans but with a focus on business leadership and how to practically manage a business idea. Experts from global and local companies were among the resource persons. The successful nurturing of youth ideas is expected to add on the National Employment Program target to create over 200,000 off-farm jobs each year. More details here.
In Nigeria, Diamond Bank, in partnership with Pan-Atlantic University’s Enterprise Development Centre, EDC had a series of activities last week to celebrate the immense contributions of entrepreneurs in driving economic growth and development in the country. The programmes gave entrepreneurs the much needed opportunity for business networking and connectivity. More details here
