All roads led to The Podium, Lekki on Wednesday. 24th July, 2019; for the Google For Nigeria 2019 event. Google did a great job bringing together users and stakeholders in Nigeria’s tech space. The aim of the event was to show how the internet can be used to create positive impact and further used to support the dreams of their Nigerian users.
It was an opportunity to experience first hand the new products and features available to Google users. Various speakers from Google educated the audience about these new products through presentations and interactive sessions. The sessions revolved around different subjects ranging from fashion and food, to entertainment and organizing.
The event highlighted the commitment of Google towards enriching the lives of their users.
“Our goal is to be the number one provider of revenue to the music industry by 2025.” says Lyor Cohen, the Global Head of Music, YouTube.
Highlights from the event include: Introduction of the Nigerian English Voice feature on Google Search, Come Chop Belleful: A Taste of Nigeria session, which was curated with help from the Pan Atlantic University (available as a feature on the Google Arts & Culture App), Lyor Cohen’s interview with Mr. Eazi and Tiwa Savage’s music performance.
The event reached its zenith when the Google Digital Playground was declared open for the attendees to explore. Googlers were present at every turn for users to interact with and ask questions about the new Google features; how they work and how they make life easier.
