“Focus, hard work is the real key to success. Keep your eyes on the goal, and just keep taking the next step towards completing it. If you aren’t sure which way to do something, do it both ways and see which works better” – John Carmack
The New Year is a great chance to press the reset button, crush procrastination and develop a new mindset of doing the work that gets you closer to achieving your goals and vision. Here are 3 key steps you need to take:
1. Build a strong vision
As you step into the New Year, develop the courage to envision great things for your business, even if they seem impossible to achieve. All great leaders and visionaries had the courage, confidence and brevity of thinking and dreaming big. Many of them were laughed at but revered after they achieved their vision. It is important to have a long term plan to help you achieve your vision.
2. Break your vision down
Great visions are not achieved after one attempt; they are achieved gradually, after several consistent attempts. This is why it is important to break down your vision into sizable goals as you enter into the New Year. If you want to scale up your venture into a million-dollar company, you must break down your vision into daily, weekly, monthly and yearly milestones that will take you steps closer to it. It is important to win the smaller goals first, to achieve your vision.
3. Put in the work
How do you achieve smaller goals? You must be consistent and put in the hard work, and it will eventually pay off. Success doesn’t happen overnight, it is a process that takes time and dedication. Steve Jobs and Njoku didn’t build the iPhone and iROKOTv overnight; they had series of trials and errors, and then slaved day and night to achieve their goals.
Think big in 2017 and don’t settle for less than what you’ve envisioned!
