Ozaremit Secures Funding From French Investors

Ozaremit is an online platform for sending airtime to family and friends living abroad. It was founded by two African tech entrepreneurs, Ibrahima Soumano and Takwana Tyaranini. The company recently announced that it has secured an undisclosed amount of funding from French investors; Thibault Launay, Romain Girbal and Célia Grémy.

These funds will be used by the company to ramp up marketing across multiple channels, and launch its agents network in a bid to make the service widely available to offline customers. According to Ibrahima Sournamo, co-founder and CEO of Ozaremit, the funding will scale up the customers base and expand business activities. “Ozaremit is set to be the next fintech success story,” he continued.

Launched three months ago, Ozaremit has grown rapidly. It presently covers 110 countries including 35 countries in Africa and is directly connected to over 400 mobile operators worldwide with a reach of 4.5 billion prepaid users. In the coming weeks, Ozeremit will unveil a new user interface, offering cross border remittances for mobile airtime, bill payment and mobile money transfer.
