It is affordable, you can pay a modest monthly fee that is calculated based on the amount of subscribers you have. If you are a motivational speaker or health coach, there is a return on investment if at least two or three of your subscribers buy some of your books, products or contacts you for a speaking engagement.

It is an overlooked medium that can be employed to promote your latest products and services. But don’t overwhelm your readers and subscribers with a lot of Ads, that is the fastest way to lose followers. A newsletter is also the best tool to post articles, podcasts, video clips, by doing this you are redirecting your audience and customers to either your blog, YouTube page or website.

With regards to marketing, if your clients read more about your competitors compared to you, they will forget you and patronize someone else. The newsletter keeps information about your brand and business in front 0f dedicated subscribers. Email marketing helps in building and sustaining relationships but not everyone understand how to use email newsletters effectively. These are tips to helps you avoid making some common mistakes that could cost you your customers:

  • It is important to grow your contact list organically either through personal contacts or by creating engaging content. Put a link on your blog or business website encouraging people to sign up. You won’t get the best result by buying contacts or sending your newsletters to people that don’t remember signing up on their own.

  • It is easy to get blacklisted if you send your newsletters too frequently especially, on all the days of the week. Set a schedule for sending emails or send it when you have vital information to share. Remember not to put too many information or images because they take too long to load. Bear in mind that people read their emails quickly, so write straight to the point and put the important details first. Ensure there are not grammatical errors in the newsletters and avoid plagiarizing.

  • Be creative with your headlines and use subject lines that gives hints on what the newsletter is all about. Email marketing is still the most affordable way to get your point across, because when you build a relationship with your customers, less work is needed to keep them glued to you.
